Ques. Hi,

I am looking for the best budget headphones under a 10000 inr budget. It has to be over the head and noise isolating. My research so far is leading me towards ath-m50x or hd380. Aiaiai also looks good on the paper.
I mostly listen to hip hop, dubsteb, r&b, jazz..
Practically all over the spectrum.
I want my bass to be a bit on the heavy side, good mids and maybe rolled off highs?
Could you please help?
Thanks in advance!!

Ans. Go for noise Cancellation headphones rather than isolation. Best sound you can enjoy is when there is no noise around, this is what we feel. Moving on,

ath-m50x and hd 380 both comes with coiled cables and are more of
 monitor headphones.

The ath-m50x is a relatively new model better built quality, easy to fold and transport and yes better sound that the HD380.

Ath-m50x has a better bass and packs a lot of punch, good mids and doesn't shrill out at high and maintains the consistency of exceptional clarity throughout an extended frequency range

AIAIAI ear cups are not of a good built quality and may get damaged early and easily.

We would recommend you to go with Audio Technica ATH-M50X.
Second recommendation  Sennheiser HD 380 Pro

  1. At this price point a person generally looks at brands like Harman kardon's AKG, bose, sennheiser, and audio Technica.
But out of these we would not recommend AKG as they sound too flat. Bose's are highly overpriced for what they offer. This leaves us with sennheiser and Audio Technica. The hd380 and Audio Technica are both good audiophile grade headphones but there is one place where sennheiser lacks that is a good heavy bass, as compared to the audio Technica the bass response is bit on the flatter side. Do remember that the ath m50x does not have noise cancellation

  3. Hello,
Sennheiser HD 380 PRO will be a good choice. As it has

. Extended frequency response for accurate, reliable sound reproduction

    • Increased sound pressure level (110dB) to handle demanding use

    • Closed circumaural design for excellent passive attenuation of ambient noise (up to 32dB) unlike technica ATH-M50X. This is totally my personal opinion, it can differ from person to person.
