Buying a Printer for average use

Shaila Patil
Ques. Thanks for solving my pendrive query. I want to buy a printer +/- scanner for home use. It should be compact. The use will be maximum 10 pages per week. Which is a better choice??

Ans. The biggest problem the home printers have is the costly ink cartridges that need to be replaced in them. Getting a printer worth Rs. 5000 and then replacing its cartridges ( worth Rs. 3000, color + black) every two months was just a nightmare. Add to it the the ink drying woes if the printer is not used for about a month.

But now the printer scene has changed quite considerably, now we have inkjet printers which are cost effective like laser printers and are also affordable to buy.

One more advice: always look for printers with flatbed scanners as in those we can also photocopy books, unlike the paper feed scanner.

Our choice would be the HP ink advantage series as these offer a perfect blend of reliability and ink affordability.

For example you can take a look at:
HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4515 All-in-One Wireless Printer
HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2515 All-in-One Printer
Higher priced models in this series will offer better print and copying speeds.

Ultimate in economy:
(But we are not very sure of its reliability.)
